Victory Music is pleased to present the “Kings of Mongrel Folk”, in concert on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the Q Cafe.  Orville Johnson and Mark Graham, the mongrel kings themselves, offer a northwest semblance of royalty and music in wry humor, soulful blues, hot pickin', and savory vocals.  Mark plays harmonica and clarinet, and Orville chimes in with guitar and dobro.  Each come together with great harmonies, unparalleled humor, and a diverse fusion of styles from Mississippi blues, R & B and jazz leanings, to fiddle tunes and songs with American and Celtic flavorings.  These guys are active in the regional music scene, have played in numerous groups over years, and have both been on Prairie Home Campanion.  They tour together, nationally and internationally.  Orville is oft thought of as a player’s player, whose skills are steeped in many styles.  He teaches workshops and private less ons, produces, and has been on many albums.  Mark writes a humorous slice of life into songs many of which have been recorded by others.  Join us for a captivating evening.  The event will open with a bluegrassy, American roots trio, Down the Road.  Cathi and Gary Davidson and Todd Tubbs feature strong harmonious duo and trio vocals, and interplay with great guitar and mandolin picking.
